----- Lago di Garda, Italy ---------------
Lago di Garda is the largest lake in Italy. We did not plan to visit this beautiful place at the base of the Italian Alps, but my friend Joel who lives outside Verona, Italy insisted we go there with him. Joel who once lived in Fort Myers married an Italian woman, Francesca, and now resides in Italy. Joel toured us around this beautiful lake engulfed by rugged mountains. The day we visited it was foggy and gave the place a very eerie feel. Lago di Garda looked like a place one would expect to see in Switzerland or Austria. The waters were very cold, but were busy with windsurfers taking advantage of the gusty winds frequent to this lake. I did not have many pictures of this place do to the limited visibility. Some of my photos here are of Joel's family and friends that we visited as well. We had the greatest Italian food here that was home made by his sweet mother-in-law Rita. The Italian people were very hospitable and looked forward to our return.
