----- Florence & Pisa, Italy --------------- Firenze and Pisa weren't really on our list of must see places due to our limited time. Pisa is a tourist trap with vendors trying to suck every Euro out of you. Lots of weapons for sale here like swords, ninja stars, nunchucks etc. I call them the death shops. Besides the leaning tower of Pisa there is not much to see. Firenze or Florence was more interesting. The cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore was the only thing we really visited in this city. Inside this cathedral was a disturbing painting of hell. There is a lot of torturing going on in this picture. One can easily see why hell scared people so bad. Every time you go to church you look up and are scared into serving god. The walk to the top was 500 steep steps that I don't want do again. We really wanted to see Tuscany, but time to see southern Italy was getting shorter. Since I am from California, Tuscany looks like Napa Valley with actual old villas instead of new buildings made to look old.
